Hi, Paul Haughney (my surname sounds like ‘hockney’) here. I’m originally from Ireland but I’ve been living in the UK for over 20 years. For the last 6 years I’ve been lucky enough to make a full time living from the Internet. Although I can’t claim to have made a ‘fortune’ from the Internet I certainly have managed to live free of all the office politics and all the other ‘baggage’ that can come with a full time office job. And for that I will always be truly thankful.
Although working from home, and sitting around in my boxer shorts (not a pretty sight!), may sound like a great way to make a living, it can also be a bit lonely too. With no real social aspect to working online, it does have it’s drawbacks, so when I unwind I make sure and do things a little differently.
For example, that’s me below at the finish line of the 2009 Jungle Marathon (Brazil), my latest adventure which not only helped me discover a lovely part of the world but was also a true test of my own character. Events like the Jungle Marathon are tough (only 50-60% of participants finish the 200km course), but they are a great way to really push yourself and see what you’re truly capable of. It certainly pushed me to my limits and hence why I have a ‘never say die’ attitude to everything I do. If I can survive events like the Jungle Marathon and the Marathon des Sables which I completed in 2007, then I truly believe I can ‘do anything’. (You can read all about it on my Jungle Marathon blog.)

But my path to Internet Marketing has been long and painful with my initial entrepreneurial efforts laid waste in an offline venture. Having successfully launched the first SMS (text messaging) service for UK golf clubs in 2005, GolfSmart SMS, it was just too soon for ‘old fashioned’ golf clubs to fully appreciate the power of 21st century technology. And after spending a lot of time developing the service, and even more money investing in the venture, I had to make one of the toughest decisions of my life and sell the business in 2006. After paying off some of my bills and with no money in the bank and no job to give me any form of steady income, I then decided to concentrate on my online ventures.
So, no job and no income, but when the going gets tough the tough get going! And not wishing to go back into full time ‘office’ employment I decided to try my hand at this ‘Internet thingy’, whilst supplementing my early efforts with contract employment in the mobile phone market, and started off with Affiliate Marketing and since 2006 I have tried my hand at lots of different methods to make money online, resulting in me now having multiple streams of income.
But one of the great things about making money online is the ultimate freedom it can afford you. And to that end I am finally in a position to make another big move as I’ll be spending at least 1 month each year, during the cold, wet UK winter, renting a property in Spain, Italy or wherever I fancy so that I can relax in the sunshine while my online business makes me money. I’ve worked hard to get to this point and that’s what you’ll need to do too if you want to achieve your own online success.
And if you stick with me I’ll do my level best to show you some short cuts to your online success.
